GIVEAWAY 7, Strawberry shortcake!

I just love strawberry shortcake (for you food connoisseurs out there, angel food cake)! Also, did you know that strawberries contain almost NO carbs (in diabetic terms, this is a very good snack for not raising your blood glucose levels: translation to a 4 year old - no shots for strawberries unless one want's to eat a whole pint). Upon seeing this great recipe from Gourmet magazine with drizzled ganache I just had to try to create an illustration of it for a recipe card.  As you can see, the result is as follows. One lucky commenter can win a set of 10 of these, 2 color (red/brown) recipe cards measuring 4.25x6". The deal? Tell me your favorite kind of cake or cupcake and if you have carb info on a serving you'll get an extra entry (I'm a nerd I know but calorie king gets a little annoying sometimes)! Lastly, make sure there's a way for me to contact you in the event that you are randomly picked! Giveaway ends 1.30.09 at midnight.

I'd have to say...
'Better Than S*x Cake'
I know the calories are WAY up there, so I try not to think about it...
Glad to see you back in the Land of Blog!

I really like making diet soda cupcakes! One of my favorites is Orange cupcakes made with Diet cream soda. The total carb count is around 36g, which isn't great, but it's not as bad as it could be! LOL! Plus, the calories and fat are way low!!! I love that!

that is SO fun. I wish I could be creative like this. my favorite is just plain angel food cake with fresh whipped cream and raspberries. SO good. don't have a calorie count though, sorry.

I love S'mores cupcakes - They're chocolate with a graham cracker crust and a marshmallow in the middle. You can put chocolate frosting with little marshmallows on top too, if you want a heart attack!

I'm a big fan of lemon cake - anything lemon really!

I don't know the carb count for lemon cake, but check out thedailyplate.com. You might find it really useful!

Best,

Holly

I am partial to anything with caramel but my hubs is a red velvet cupcake freak! haha. If I had to guess the carb content for red velvet I'd say 60-70g depending on the recipe you use. I hope I win!

Double chocolate, definitely! Chocolate cake w/ chocolate chips and chocolate frosting. I'm sure the carb factor is out-of-this-world. But YUM!

I loooove carrot cake. The recipe that I use is from a recipe book that my great grandmother's church put together, but here's that Alton brown recipe if you'd like it: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/carrot-cake-recipe/index.html

An average slice of frosted carrot cake does have around 47g carbs, though :/

I love these recipe cards! The teeny little strawberries are just about the cutest things ever.

How about chocolate graham cracker cupcakes from Trophy Cupcake in Seattle.

They come in at a whopping 429 calories, but are worth every one! 65.9 grams of carbs!

I'm a sucker for strawberry shortcake with homemade whipped cream and fresh Louisiana strawberries. The avg. carb count? 48.3 g carbs, per Allrecipes.com.

I do not like traditional "cake" - I know crazy. For every birthday I have had an angel food cake instead. Unfortunately, my husband doesn't care for angel food cake so we had blueberry pound cake for our wedding and it was a HUGE hit! However, I must say my cake craving of the moment is Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins. I use All Recipes version, but substitute fresh pumpkin puree for canned and love them! Each little muffin is only about 35 calories (that is before you top it with icing!)

I love the illustration on these! My favorite kind of cake would have to be a Norwegian favorite, Blitz Torte. My grandma would make it for birthdays and celebrations. It's a two layer cake, with yellow cake of sorts with merigue and pecans on top, with a layer of French vanilla pudding in between the layers. Yum! I'm not sure of the calorie content, but since there's no frosting maybe it's better than "traditional" cake? :)

If asked, my favorite cake is chocolate cake, which most people would call yellow cake with chocolate frosting - don't judge, this is what I grew up calling it! My mom would always make it and add money to it (clean coins of course!). Ooh, now I'm hungry!

When I have a chocolate craving, I head to to PFChangs for their Great Wall of Chocolate cake!! It has around 25g carbs but boy are they ever tasty!!

My favorite is carrot cake with cream cheese icing. Must be served room temperature so the icing is just soft enough to bring out it's sweetness. YUM!!!-my mouth is watering now!! Julie
